Forklift Masts Milwaukee

Forklift Masts Milwaukee - Milwaukee is the 28th most heavily populated city within the United States and the biggest city in Wisconsin. The city of Milwaukee is the 39th most populous area within the USA and is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. It is the county seat of the county of Milwaukee.

According to the Census of the year 2010, the population of the city of Milwaukee was 594,833. The Milwaukee-Racine-Waukesha Metropolitan Area had a population during the year 2010 of 1,751,316. Milwaukee is the main economic and cultural hub of the region and is the regional center of the 7 county Greater Milwaukee Area. During the year 2008, this area had an estimated population of 2,014,032.

Originally the area was settled by various Native American tribes. In 1795, a French-Canadian fur trader built the first trading post. The region which comprised the city was initially established by 3 different men in the years 1833 and 1834. The 3 townships were incorporated as the City of Milwaukee during the year 1846. The name of the city came from the Indian word "Millioke." Depending on the interpretation, the word for Milwaukee translates to "gathering place by the water," "the good land" or "pleasant or beautiful lands."

French fur traders and missionaries were the first Europeans to pass through the area called present day Milwaukee. In the year 1818, Solomon Juneau, the French-Canadian explorer settled within the region. During 1846, the town of Juneau combined with 2 neighboring townships and became incorporated as Milwaukee. In the 1840s, lots of immigrants such as Germans helped to increase the population of the city during that time and the decades after.

Milwaukee was at one time recognized as a brewing and manufacturing powerhouse. With the decline of industry in many of the states, Milwaukee's image has changed. There have been many new additions to the economy in the past decade. Like for example, the Milwaukee Art Museum is now home to Miller Park, which is an internationally renowned addition to the museum. The Frontier Airlines Center, Milwaukee Riverwalk and the Pier Wisconsin are among the newest developments. There has been a dramatic increase within the construction of lofts, condos and apartments, together with skyscrapers being built within the neighborhoods bordering the lakefront and the riverbanks.

Due to 4 of the biggest breweries in the world located within the city, Milwaukee was initially known as a beer township. These four breweries include Miller, Pabst, Blatz and Schiltz. Currently, just Miller remains within Milwaukee. Milwaukee is still a huge manufacturing area. About more than 20 percent of the population is working in manufacturing companies. This figure is much higher compared to the national average. Some of the major industry segments within Milwaukee consist of: Publishing and Printing, Tourism, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Financial Services and High Technology.

Milwaukee earned the nickname of "the City of Festivals," since it hosts a variety of festivals each year. Popular festivals comprise: CajunFest, the Great Circus Parade, the Holiday Folk Fair, Bastille Days, the Wisconsin State Fair, Summerfest, Irish Fest, Polish Fest, Mexican Fiesta, German Fest, Festa Italiana and the Holiday Folk Fair.
