The population of Oregon State is approximately 3.8 million, with the majority of these inhabitants located within the valley of the Willamette River in western Oregon. Portland's population is 583,776.
Crater Lake National Park is the state's only national park. Crater Lake is one of the world's deepest lakes.
Deposits of lake sediment on the valley floor provided by Glacial Lake Missoula in western Montana feed the fertile region of the Willamette Valley. The state of Oregon is a leading wine-producing region with more than 300 wineries. Wine production has been a significant business for roughly forty years. The area has similar weather and soil qualities to those found in the Alsace and Burgundy regions of France. Cranberry production is situated along the Southern coastline covering roughly 27,000 acres within southern Coos and northern Curry counties, all-over Bandon.
Dry and irrigated land wheat is grown within the northeastern area of Oregon State, specifically around Pendleton. The state likewise produces dairy products, cattle, poultry, eggs and sheep.
Because of its extensive forests, Oregon used to be one of the countries' major producers of timber. Numerous factors have caused a vast decline in the timber harvested from federal lands. Legal struggles over management of federal holdings, over-harvesting and forest fires have reduced production of timber.
