 Forklift Masts Denton - Denton City within Texas, currently has a population of around 120,000 people and is the county seat of Denton County. Just north of Denton is the Oklahoma-Texas border, that is around 47 miles away and Dallas, is to the southeast roughly 49 miles away.
The University of North Texas, which is the biggest university in Northern Texas, and Texas Woman's University are located within Denton City and between the two of them host more than 45,000 students. The Texas Woman's University was at first a single-sex collage but during 1994 the institution became co-ed. Denton City is usually characterized as a college town because of the universities present there.
Denton County was initially formed from a Texas land grant during 1846. The city was founded shortly after in 1857. The city was named after John B. Denton, who was a pioneer and Texas militia captain. The city was able to distinguish itself from the nearby areas by establishing the two state colleges.
Denton has an economy that is mainly based on retail trade, educational services, manufacturing, and health and social services. The businesses within these sectors hire around 20,000 people. More than twelve thousand jobs are given due to the three educational institutes and the city hires about 1,300, of which 300 are public safety personnel. One of the main sources of retail trade is the Golden Triangle Mall, which hosts over 90 specialty shops. The most notable companies that have their headquarters in Denton City consist of Peterbilt, Sally Beauty Company, and Jostens.
The city of Denton hosts many festivals and events throughout the year. In Springtime, there is a Jazz and Arts festival within the city of Denton which attracts numerous tourists to the area. More than 300,000 people come to the yearly North Texas State Fair and Rodeo and the Jazz and Arts festival. The city of Denton was named as the "Best Music Scene" by Scene magazine during 2008. The Dog Days of Summer, Cinco de Mayo, Twilight Tunes, and the Fry Street Fair are some of the other popular annual events. Racing enthusiasts are happy to find that the Texas Motor Speedway is located approximately fourteen miles south and Denton Dragway is located around five miles north of the city of Denton.
Denton City has many cultural places, like for instance the Bayless-Selby House Museum, Denton County, Denton County Historical Museum and Texas Heritage Centre, Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum, hangar 10 Flying Museum, Gowns of the First ladies of Texas, UNT Sky Theater Planetarium, Historic Downtown Denton, and Little Chapel-in-the-Woods.
