 Forklift Masts Winston-Salem - The North Carolina city of Winston-Salem is situated in the Piedmont Triad, that is an economic region which comprises the cities of High Point and Greensboro. Winston-Salem serves as the seat of Forsyth County. Situated approximately 100 miles west of the state capital, Raleigh, Winston-Salem sits around 80 miles northeast of Charlotte. The town of Salem was initially founded during 1766, when it originally served as a congregational location for the Moravian church. The nearby Winston town was established during the year 1849 and named in tribute to a local Revolutionary War hero, Joseph Winston. Both Salem and Winston became famous centers within the newly created Forsyth County, with burgeoning ventures in the furniture, textile and tobacco markets. By the late 1850s, the two towns were connected to form Winston-Salem. Amongst the globe's biggest tobacco firms, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, opened in the city of Winston-Salem in 1874. Since that time, the Reynolds family has played a major role in the development of the city of Winston-Salem. In the early 20th century, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts started its very first shop within the city of Winston-Salem and Piedmont Airlines established head office there.
Medical research is currently a major industry in Winston-Salem City. The city's largest business is Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Other company headquarters located within Winston-Salem City include Branch banking and Trust Company, TW Garner Food Company, Reynolda manufacturing Solutions, Hanes Brands Inc., ISP Sports, Lowes Foods Stores and Southern Community Bank. Winston-Salem Cit is part of the Piedmont Triad Research Park where a lot of biomedical and information technology development and research facilities are situated. Banking and finance are essential to the city's economy as well.

Winston-Salem City is notable for establishing the first local arts council within the nation in 1949. Thus, and due to the number of attractions related to art, it is known as "City of the Arts." Winston-Salem City is home to Winston-Salem Alliance, Twin City Stage, the Piedmont Opera Theater, the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts, University of North Carolina School of the Arts and the Stevens center for the performing Arts. Art enthusiasts could visit lots of galleries within the city's art district at Trade and Sixth streets. Every year, many tourists visit for the various excellent film and performance festivals, including the heavy rebel Weekender Music Festival, the national Black Theater Festival, the RiverRun International Film Festival, the Revolve Film and Music Festival and the Reynolda Film Festival. The city's music scene is enlivened by its various music traditions and the presence of Carolina Music Ways, a grassroots arts organization. The Werehouse is the best place to check out the 'Indie' music and art scenes.
