 Forklift Masts Twin Falls - The City of Twin Falls is the largest city of Twin Falls County in Idaho, USA. According to the census of 2010, the population of Twin Falls was 44,125 and is the biggest city of Idaho's Magic Valley region. Twin Falls serves as a regional commercial center for both northeastern Nevada and south-central Idaho, as the largest city within a 166 kilometer or 100 mile radius.
The City of Twin Falls is the major city of the ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. This officially includes Jerome and Twin Falls Counties. Moreover, Elko County, the resort community of Jackpot, Nevada is also considered to be a part of the greater Twin Falls area, although unofficially.
As the state's 7th biggest city, Twin Falls is the fastest growing city situated in South-Central Idaho. The unemployment within the County of Twin Falls stood at 9.5%. This figure came in under the state's average of 9.6%. The unemployment was steadily decreasing to a low of just under 2% from 1998 until the year 2007. As of April the year 2011, the unemployment rate grew to almost 9.5% in tandem with the economy of the whole country.
Much of the city's growth has happened during the past 20 years. Between the year 2006 till the year 2011, there has been an acceleration of growth even though there are many which have been important members of the economy for numerous years.
Twin Falls is home to award winning cheese producer Glanbia Foods. This company is part of a larger Glanbia plc., that is a major Irish food company. Because Twin Falls was amongst the premier farming regions in the world, with a huge concentration on agriculture, the company chose Twin Falls as an ideal choice. Another award winning food company, Falls Brand is located in the southern portion of Twin Falls. Falls Brands' Old Fashioned Basque Chorizo sausage won the "Hold the Mustard" award presented by the NMA or also referred to as National Meat Association. Each and every year, they hold this yearly contest the "NMA Annual Gourmet Sausagefest."
The College of Southern Idaho or also known as CSI is another mainstay of the economy. This Junior College boasts a student population of roughly 3,433 students and is a famous alternative to those students who are rather not yet ready to go to a 4-year university. There are CSI residential halls available for those students who are attending school from out of state.
Some of the other large employers consist of Lamb Weston, which has a food processing plant located within the western region of Twin Falls. They have yearly revenue of around $100 million per annum and employ no less than 500 residents. One more big employer comprises Amalgamated Sugar Company, which makes White Satin sugar.
The City of Twin Falls has seen a lot of development, with numerous retail store openings all around the city. This expansion has taken place between the year 2006 and 2011 in spite of a troubled economy of the entire nation.
