The popular Toledo Zoo is among the biggest within the country, well-known for being the site of a hippoquarium. The Center of Science and Industry (COSI) provides a hands-on science museum with both permanent and traveling exhibits for education and fun. Cultural offerings include the Toledo Ballet, Toledo Symphony and the Toledo Opera. Toledo's century-old Valentine Theater is still in operation and is at the heart of the city's downtown rejuvenation project.
The city of Toledo boasts over 100 parks that offer a lot of possibilities for outdoor activities. A popular fishing place within Toledo City is the Maumee River, which flows through Toledo. Boating is a favorite activity on the river as well as on Lake Erie.

Faurecia Exhaust Systems is located there. Today, the city's largest employment business is the healthcare trade, that generates much more jobs than the manufacturing business. The University of Toledo is the single largest employer in Toledo City. Toledo has a burgeoning solar energy sector that has produced several new work.
The businesses that play a major role in the financial system comprise businesses operating in medical, technology, plastic, steel, and metals fields. The city of Toledo serves as the banking and finance center for Northwestern Ohio.
Glass industry jobs are still provided by Pilkington North America, Owens-Corning, Therma-Tru, Libbey Glass and different glass related businesses. Johns Manville, a major fiberglass business, is located in the area. Toledo City is home to Fortune 500 companies Owens Corning and Dana Corporation. The Fortune 1000 company, HCR Manor Care, is headquartered within Toledo City.
