 Forklift Masts Gresham - Gresham is a city within the state of Oregon. The fourth biggest city within Oregon State with over 105,000 residents and is situated east of Portland within the County of Multnomah.
Initially, the community was referred to as the Campground, a place where pioneers can camp for the night and rest before going to Portland and the Willamette Valley. The community can not be recognized as a city until it built a post office and postal code. A local business man offered his store as a post office and suggested that the city be named after Postmaster General Walter Quinton Gresham, who was likewise an American Civil War general. The post office was established during the year 1884, and during 1905 Gresham was incorporated as a city with its very first mayor, Lewis Shattuck.
The people of Gresham have recognized that art is an important part of their community. The city has been able to attract and grow lots of artists who have built a vibrant local arts scene. City Hall is a focal point of cultural activity, with regular public art exhibitions. The city's artists are supported by the local government by acquiring art from local artists and providing gallery space.
The Gresham Art Walk, held each year within the city, features nearly 100 artists from throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. The visitors come from all around to enjoy the live music while being able to meet a lot of the artists. They also come to browse the locally produced pottery, paintings, photography, beadwork, textiles and glass work. The city's downtown has various one-of-a-kind boutiques and farmers markets. At Gresham Station shoppers have access to 50 nationally known shops and restaurants.
Gresham area outdoor activities include the Mt. Hood National Forest and the scenic Columbia River Gorge. The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area is a 130 km passageway which formed during the Missoula floods roughly 13,000 to 15,000 years ago. The following activities at the Gorge can be enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts: camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, birding, wildlife viewing, photography, boating, rock climbing, picnicking, mountain biking and windsurfing.
