Forklift Masts Sterling Heights - Sterling Heights is a city and a suburb of Detroit within Michigan State. With a population of 129,699, the city of Sterling Heights is the second largest suburb of Detroit, that lies approximately 40 km to the southwest. The city of Sterling Height is part of Macomb County and is bordered by the communities of Troy, Mt. Clemens and Warren. Branches of the Clinton River flow through Sterling Heights.
After the Revolutionary War, farmers started to settle in the area now referred to as Sterling Heights, attracted by the fertile soils. These settlers prospered and built large homesteads, and by 1880, this was a picturesque township dotted with farm houses and fields of wheat and other crops. With the coming of the railroad, Sterling Town accommodated four passenger trains a day from Detroit. The Town of Sterling became Sterling Heights when it was officially incorporated as a city in 1968. The word "Heights" was added to distinguish the city from a village called Sterling within the County of Arenac. The city of Sterling Heights is currently a thriving industrial and commercial area and a core suburb within the greater Detroit metropolitan area.
The area is home of the Detroit Institute Of Arts, considered one of the best art museums in the globe and consisting of over 65,000 items. Three days of carnival rides and performances distinguish this popular family event which has featured recording artists like for instance REO Speedwagon and Rick Springfield. The Polish-American Festival, featuring local Polish bands, is also a well attended event due to the large number of area inhabitants with Polish heritage.
