Forklift Masts Clearwater - Clearwater is a Florida city situated in Pinellas County. It is situated northwest of St. Petersburg and almost due west of Tampa. The Gulf of Mexico lies towards the west of Clearwater and Tampa Bay is found towards the east. Based on the Census of the year 2000, the city had a population of around 107,600. Clearwater is the county seat of Pinellas County and is the smallest among the 3 principal cities located within the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan region which is usually referred to as the Tampa Bay Area.

In the Clearwater region; the first inhabitants were from the Tocobagan Indian Tribe. It wasn't until the year 1835 that the first settlement was constructed by US Army in the area of Fort Harrison. It was used as an outpost in the Seminole wars. The city of Clearwater was repeatedly raided by Union gunboats during the Civil War who were looking for supplies.

The city of Clearwater is located near 2 main airports and some major highways. The St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport and the Tampa International Airport are conveniently close by. The Coachman Park is another famous destination within the region and is home to numerous annual events.

The downtown part within the city of Clearwater has undergone major redevelopment over the years. A new large marina and a few high rise condo buildings are some of the recently developed properties. Overall beautification has been performed with a lot of restaurants, amenities and new bars coming to the area. The modernized downtown has been renamed the "Cleveland Street District." The Royalty Theatre is also on the renovation plan. The downtown core is roughly 6 miles from downtown Dunedin and 2 miles from Clearwater Beach. When driving through many parts of downtown and to the various aforementioned places in particular, there are spectacular Clearwater Memorial Causeway views and general views of the water to be enjoyed.

Located within Clearwater, within the state of Florida is the spiritual head office of the Church of Scientology religion. This group is known within the area as the Flag Service Organization. They have acquired a variety of properties within the area such as the Clearwater Bank Building and the historic Fort Harrison Hotel. These property acquisitions have resulted in arguments from political viewpoints, citizens and local interests combined.

Estimates count around 12,000 Scientologists in the Clearwater area. There are approximately 2,000 church members who come to the city from out of town for religious instruction as well as more than 1,200 church employees. It has been speculated that Scientology is responsible for contributing around $156.8 million a year to the city's economy.

From Clearwater, residents and visitors have easy access to nearby Tampa and St. Petersburg. There are various superb beaches all over the city of Clearwater for people looking for fun in the sun.
