Forklift Masts Garland - Garland City is a northeast suburb of Dallas and is a critical piece of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The majority of the city of Garland lies within Dallas County, even though small portions are situated in Collin County. It is the twelfth most populated city within Texas with a current population of approximately 227,000. There are two DART Light Rail Line transit stations located within the city. One is located within Historic Downtown Garland whereas the other is at Forest Land and Jupiter Road. The D/FW International Airport is located around 30 minutes away.

The area that is presently Garland, was first settled during 1850, but the city was not officially made until the year 1874. The first settlement was named for an area corn mill that was constructed on the northwest bank of Duck Creek, by a man named Moles. Luckily for the settlers, the black soil was perfect for growing cotton. Cotton rapidly became their primary agricultural product and, by 1867, two cotton gins had been built. A post office was finally established in 1878.

The city of Garland over the past few years have seen several noticeable developments, specially in the northern sector of the city. In the year 2003 the city opened Hawaiian Falls Water Park, that was followed soon by both the School District's Special Events Center and the Firewheel Town Center in 2005. The Firewheel Town Center hosts over one hundred businesses in an outdoor mall surroundings.

Along with Trammell Crow Company in 2009, the city of garland completed a private/public transaction to develop the parking lot and old courthouse located between 6th Street, 5th Street, and on the North Side of Austin Street into a transit oriented development called 5th Street Crossing. This particular development contains over 189 residential apartment units in addition to 11,000 SF of flex retail. City Hall and the downtown DART Rail station are situated cater-corner to 5th Street Crossing.
